Puppies will have 3 rounds of shots. The first round will be given when the puppy is 6 to 8 weeks old. The second round will be given when the puppy is 10 to 12 weeks old. The third round will be given when the puppy is 14 to 16 weeks old. Your puppy will be vaccinated for:
DHPP is considered a “core” vaccine, which means all puppies and adult dogs should receive it. Distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus can all be fatal if your dog is infected. The kennel cough vaccine is a vaccine that protects against upper respiratory infections from the bacterium Bordetella bronchiseptica.
You will need to bring your adult dog in bi-annually for their annual pet vaccinations. Your dog will get the DHPP, Bordetella, and rabies vaccines. We will also do a heartworm check and fecal test.
Kittens will have 2 rounds of shots. The first round is given at 8 to 9 weeks old and the second round is given at 11 to 12 weeks old. Kitten vaccinations include:
The FVRCP vaccine protects against both respiratory and diarrhea viruses and is recommended for all cats. The feline leukemia virus vaccine is recommended for cats that spend time outside or live in a home with a cat that already has the virus.
Your cat will need to come in once a year afterward for annual pet vaccinations. During the annual, we administer FVRCP, leukemia, and rabies vaccines. We will also do a fecal test.
Texas law requires that dogs and cats be vaccinated against rabies by 4 months (16 weeks) of age. and then given a booster 12 months after the initial vaccination. The 12-month rabies booster can be given as either a 1-year or 3-year vaccine depending on what is required by your city/county. If you are traveling with your pet, you must carry the pet vaccination certificate for rabies that we provide you with.
